APCRG Round Table, Hotel Tbilisi Marriott

APCRG has organized round table, meeting there were invited representatives of Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Affairs, Georgian Drug Agency, representatives of Healthcare and social issues committee of Parliament, WHO local office.

There were made three presentations:

1) Issues linked with the new law of Drugs and Pharmaceutical Activity - specificity of the Biosimiliar Products Market Authorization

Speaker - Mrs.Nino Gochitashvili, company Hoffmann La Roche, Medical Director, Representative office in Georgia

2) Counterfeits issue - highlights of data provided in the handbook issued by the International Anti Counterfeit Task Force (IMPACT)

Speaker - Mr.Irakli Margvelashvili, Executive Director of APCRG

3) Pharmacovigilance -main principles and importance

Speaker - Mrs. Marina Giorgobiani, Head of APCRG Board, General Manager of Sanofi-Aventis representative office in Georgia and Armenia

In debate were involved and comments were made by Mr.Amiran Gamkrelidze (WHO office in Georgia), Mrs. N.Shengelidze (Drug Agency), Mrs. E.Paatashvili (MOHLSA, Legal Department) and other guests.

Majority of participants agreed that topics discussed are very important and the regulatory environment in Georgia has to be improved in order to match the needs of Georgian healthcare system and in particular pharmaceutical sector. This type of modification will only help healh authorities to supply population of Georgia with safe, efficient and effective medications and will make them more available for all category of citizens.

Within the meeting was underlined, that it would be very important to conduct this type of meetings on regular basis and this way of collaboration between pharma industry and health authorities will be very productive.
